Volunteers

Every year we put together a student committee that volunteer their time to support the Design Foundation team organise and run every aspect of the agIdeas International Design Week. The committee gets to engage in an role that gives them invaluable and inspiring experience. These volunteers are selected from leading Australian and international tertiary institutions.

Before the event, volunteers are involved in the initial planning stages and get to work closely with a member of the Design Foundation team. In the past the committee have been responsible for promoting and ticket sales, administration, and at the event supported with the AV and most excitingly host VIP guests.  The role of the student committee is an enriching experience and enables volunteers to not only network and make industry contacts but meet and work with other students in the design industry. The experience is fun and the relationships the volunteers develop are left with, remain life long.

“It was an insight into the intricate world of design and creativity, giving students a chance to rub shoulders with their idols and understand they were once like us and we sure as sugar can grow up to be like them. The committee provided contacts and constant aid when needed, making friends that became family and giving back to the creative world we love.”
Benjamin James Anthony, agIdeas 2013 – 2014 regional Committee Volunteer

“As an agIdeas committee representative, I have had the invaluable opportunity of taking a backstage look at what it is like to organise an internationally renowned design event. I have developed skills in organisation, planning, and verbal presentation. Being part of the committee has allowed me to meet inspiring role models, make new friends, and has been an unforgettable experience!”
Grace Ng, agIdeas 2014 Interstate Committee Volunteer

It’s the hard work and devotion from our organising committee that help make agIdeas International Design Week a success. Without the commitment from the volunteers, the event simply could not run.
