Sophie Buttner

Sophie Buttner is a maker/designer for film, theatre, television and events. After studying graphic design in Melbourne, sculpture in Italy, and theatre crafts in Sydney, Sophie has worked extensively in Australia and overseas. Her film credits include The Matrix, Farscape, Moulin Rouge, Scooby-Doo and Ghost Rider.

She has worked with The Australian Ballet on the Nutcracker Suite and the Bell Shakespeare Company on Henry IV. She has also worked for Universal Studios Japan, the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Al Martinez Studios, Studio Kite and Mothers Art, and on ABC documentaries and private commissions. Her skills include sculpting, designing, mold making, costume props, art finishing, fabrication, construction and model making. Sophie was recently awarded the Mike Walsh Fellowship to research puppetry and theatre in France.

After 18 years in the industry, Sophie is now creating sculptured, hand finished jewellery inspired by the richness of cultures, colourful characters and the beauty of land formations.
