Poras Chaudhary

In his brief career to date, photographer Poras Chaudhary has established himself internationally with a remarkable tally of awards for his work in photojournalism, travel photography and portraiture.

Naturally gifted and completely self-taught, he is best known for his captivating colours and the exquisite composition of his images. Ever since he was a child, Poras has been intrigued by moments that are visually striking, for their color, configuration or rarity in time.

When his passion for photography was ignited in 2005, he began capturing the places, people and events of interest around him, and gained almost instant attention.

His awards to date include Digital Camera Magazine’s Photographer of the Year award in 2006, runner-up in the 2008 Epson Color Imaging Contest, second place in the People category of the 2009 International Photography Awards, winner of the Homeland category in the 2009 Travel Photographer of the Year awards, winner of the Travel category in the 2010 Smithsonian Magazine’s Photo Contest, and second place in the Professional Music category in the 2011 International Photography Awards.

Poras is currently working on a long-term project in south Asia, documenting the changes the region is undergoing due to the effects of global warming.
