Professor at the ESAG/Penninghen, École Supérieure des Arts Graphiques, Paris, and a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale, Michel has participated as an artist and jury member in many international biennales and has held solo exhibitions in more than 30 countries. Major awards include the Grand Prize for a Cultural Poster at the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris; first prize in the International Poster Biennale in Fort-Collins, Colorado, USA, and at the International Biennale of Theatre Posters in Rzeszow, Poland; the Jan Lenica Prize at the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, Poland; and the Alphonse Mucha Prize at the Brno Biennale.
Michel’s work has appeared in numerous design magazines including Graphis Poster (Switzerland), Idea (Japan), Linea Grafica (Italy) and Novum (Germany). He has curated major exhibitions including ‘Graphic designers around the world’, ‘East Coast/West Coast’ and ‘Graphic designers in United States’, and has two books published by Les Editions Textuel, Paris.
