Michael has a background in architecture and a keen interest in community-building and human well-being. He is a volunteer lifesaver with Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club, where he serves as Deputy President. Prior to this, he served 4 years as Tamarama SLSC’s Executive Director of Education, teaching life saving skills.
Michael aims to facilitate new sustainable eco ventures that build the long-term wealth and health of our planet and its people.
Established in 1996, S+A make furniture from recycled post-consumer plastic and is Australia’s first FSC-certified furniture maker to be listed on Greenpeace’s Good Wood Guide.
S+A won the Powerhouse Museum’s Sustainability Award and are listed in the world’s hot 100 design studios in Charlotte & Peter Fiell’s ‘Designing the 21st Century’. In 2007, S+A were awarded Standards Australia’s ‘Australian Design Award’.
Their work has been exhibited in Milan’s Triennale Museum, San Jose’s Museum of Modern Art, and the Melbourne Museum.
