Maciej Buszewicz

Highly influential Polish designer Maciej Buszewicz is renowned for his book designs, and is the founder of the Book Design Studio.

Born in 1952 in Rawicz, Maciej’s began a career in graphic design in 1976 after graduating from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1980, he was the Art Director at ISKRY Publishing House and at the Poljazz Record Company. In 1984, he began to teach typography at the Faculty of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and has proceeded to lecture in various other countries.

Maciej has won the award for Most Beautiful Book of the Year in Poland 23 times and received several distinctions.

He is now a Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he gives master classes in book design at the widely acclaimed and influential Book Design Studio.

Along with book design he has also worked with identity design for clients such as the Warsaw Centre for Contemporary Art, creating iconic posters, typography, stamps and more.

Maciej has been called ‘an aristocrat among designers’, with a highly recognisable style.

He is an honorary member of STGU and has been widely awarded, including being the winner of the Warsaw Autumn Exhibition of Graphic Art in 1980, and is a multiple recipient of the Most Beautiful Book of the Year in Poland award.
