Kerrie Stanley

Mercurial milliner Kerrie Stanley of Melbourne has an unconventional flair for design that has been winning top awards for more than a decade, including the coveted Millinery Award. Her name is synonymous with celebrity millinery and Fashions on the Field and is now taking off as a retail brand in Australia and the UK.

Describing her work as ‘sculptural, minimalist and polished with a hint of high drama’, Kerrie loves the theatrics of millinery and often dares to explore alternative mediums and materials. With a witty and flirty wink to vintage classics and contemporary eclecticism, her designs give her wearers an edgy and individual look. Born in North Queensland, Kerrie’s early training was with the renowned Brisbane hairdresser Bennie Tognini.

A spontaneous move to Melbourne led to a photo shoot with celebrity performer Rhonda Burchmore and a request for a hat to wear to the 1998 Melbourne Cup Carnival. It was an instant media hit and Kerrie has since designed twenty Fashions on the Field winners at the iconic racing event. She also enjoys ongoing relationships with couture designers Mathieu Salem and Craig Braybrook, designing bridal and special event millinery for their clients, and is exploring collaborations with established commercial fashion brands.
