Julie Patersen

Julie Patersen is the founder of Cloth Fabric, a small design company based in Sydney that produces upholstery and furnishing fabrics for stockists all over Australia and internationally.

Educated in Somerset College of Technology, Julie also went on to study textiles in North Staffordshire Polytechnic, and then to study a postgraduate diploma in education and design in Goldsmiths College University of London in 1986-1987. She founded Cloth Fabric in 1995 in Sydney, which produces locally handmade upholstery and furnishing fabric for home and boutique commercial interiors. Their fabric is printed locally by craftspeople using short batch production methods, on natural fibres, using water-based, non-toxic inks. Cloth Fabric now employs 6 people, and not only supplies stockists but also maintains a retail shop in Sydney’s Surry Hills.

At present, Julie is collaborating with Jamie Durie on a range of outdoor soft furnishings.
