Erik Adigard

Erik Adigard is a founder of the San Francisco design studio M-A-D, whose work is positioned at the intersection of communication design and multimedia arts. A member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and Alliance Graphique Internationale, among his many honours is the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design.

Erik’s activities range across multiple disciplines such as print, web, video, branding, multimedia, corporate and experimental design.

Better known projects include visual essays for Wired magazine; ground-breaking websites for clients such as Hotbot, Wired News and Livewired; the book ‘Architecture Must Burn'; the short documentary ‘Webdreamer'; and the branding of IBM software. He has conceived a 500-piece exhibit for the ExperimentaDesign Biennale in Lisbon and a large multimedia installation for the Venice Architecture Biennale.

Erik’s creations have been shown in the Sundance Film Festival, the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum, Meggs’ History of Graphic Design and other major international festivals, exhibitions and publications. He also regularly lectures, teaches, advises and writes on design and media.
