his work as a Designer, Typographer and Art Educator. After studying Typography in Zurich and Type Design in Paris, André set up studio
in 1995, working on commissions for cultural institutions as well as alternative projects, stage sets and three-dimensional works.
Type design has always been an integral part of André’s practice and he has designed numerous typefaces, including the AB Eiffel font for the Eiffel Tower signage project. In 2008 he established a design office in Paris with Toan Vu-Huu and their work in editorial design, artist books, posters, type design, visual identities and signage systems has since been regularly published and exhibited internationally.
Their many distinctions include a Swiss Federal Design Award (book design) and awards from the Type Directors Clubs of Tokyo and New York; International Poster Triennial, Toyama; International Biennial of Graphic Design, Brno; and Poster Triennial, Trnava.
A teacher from the earliest days of his career, André currently lectures in Typography and Type Design at Zurich University of the Arts, EnsAD University of Decorative Arts in Paris, and the National Workshop for Type Design in Nancy, France. He has been a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale since 2002.
