Design Thinking, Design Research, Design Management, Design Strategy Biography Dr Philip Whiting specialises in Design and Branding Research Strategy for the retail sector, bringing together the disciplines of interior, product and graphic design. He first established a successful UK design consultancy. In Australia he originally joined Minale Tattersfield Bryce. He is a past president of the Design Institute of Australia, Queensland Chapter 1994/96. Philip was Convenor of the Design Department, Queensland College of Art, Griffith University for three years until late 2011 and continues to lecture on Design Thinking, Methodology and Practice. Dr Philip Whiting originally worked in the UK as a consultant designer to the Institute for Consumer Ergonomics and major clients have included Volvo, Shell, The Boots Company, 3M/Riker, as well as a number of FMCG retailers. In Australia he works with major retail developers Lend Lease, Westfield and Stockland as well as with individual retail operators.Philip is able to cultivate consumer desire, want and need through design thinking & research; this quantifies the intangible, functional and emotional assets contained within brand value and thus enables it to flourish.
