Biography
Lectured in Graphic Design at both Townsville College of TAFE (1982–92) and James Cook University (1992–2001). Was awarded the 1987 Ruth Atkinson Memorial Prize for Excellence in Scholarship at JCU and the Department of Education and Vocational Employment and Training Employee Award for Outstanding Contribution to Employment, Education and Training in TAFE. Program Leader for the Graphic Design program within the Bachelor of Visual Arts program 1994–2001 at JCU and operated a small freelance design business (Communication Art Studio) until 2001. Commenced at the University of the Sunshine Coast as Area of Studies Coordinator for Computer Based Art and Design in July 2001 and continued in this role until 2007. Visiting fellow at Leeds University Semester 2, 2007. Acted as a Queensland Government Office of Higher Education course accreditation panel member from 2007—2012. I have supervised 9 postgraduate research completions at PhD, DCA and Masters level and presently have 5 postgraduate students in progress and have been an examiner for theses from Griffith, UWS, UTAS, QUT and JCU.
